The Rabbit Proof Fence

Molly was a half-caste (the daughter of a Britisher and a aboriginal woman). She, her sister and her cousin were kidnapped by the Britishers so that they become white and marry a Britisher which will make their children full Britishers. She didn't like the surrounding of the new place so she took the responsibility of her sister and her cousin and tried to escape and reach their parents. This was a heroic act because she not only cared about herself, but she cared about her siblings too. This tells that Molly was a hero.

Colonization - Ethnocentricity

Using knowledge and understanding gained from "The Rabbits" and "The First Australians" respond to the following prompt on your blog:

How did the ethnocentricity of the British and the First Australians cause conflict between the two groups?

The main cause of the conflict between the two groups was because of their ethnocentricity. The two groups had different thoughts of each other. The First Australians thought that the Britishers were a weird kind of creature or an alien. The Britishers thought that the First australians were primitive and uncivilized. This gave place for curiosity for knowing each other and learn about them. This made the Britishers to try to change the First australians like the Britishers. But the used the wrong way because of which a war began and made a new governor to come. The new governor in search of more land met new people and again with curiosity tried to change them. The natives did not want to change because of which they were forced to follow them. This lead to more war,and eventually, there was a lot of destruction. This shows that curiosity had caused destruction to the land in Australia.

Julius Caesar Solo/Duet Acting Assignment

ACT II, SCENE 2, LINES 58-107

DECIUS BRUTUS

Caesar, all hail! good morrow, worthy Caesar:
I come to fetch you to the senate-house.

CAESAR

And you are come in very happy time,
To bear my greeting to the senators
And tell them that I will not come to-day:
Cannot, is false, and that I dare not, falser:
I will not come to-day: tell them so, Decius.

CALPURNIA

Say he is sick.

CAESAR

Shall Caesar send a lie?
Have I in conquest stretch'd mine arm so far,
To be afraid to tell graybeards the truth?
Decius, go tell them Caesar will not come.

DECIUS BRUTUS

Most mighty Caesar, let me know some cause,
Lest I be laugh'd at when I tell them so.

CAESAR

The cause is in my will: I will not come;
That is enough to satisfy the senate.
But for your private satisfaction,
Because I love you, I will let you know:
Calpurnia here, my wife, stays me at home:
She dreamt to-night she saw my statue,
Which, like a fountain with an hundred spouts,
Did run pure blood: and many lusty Romans
Came smiling, and did bathe their hands in it:
And these does she apply for warnings, and portents,
And evils imminent; and on her knee
Hath begg'd that I will stay at home to-day.

DECIUS BRUTUS

This dream is all amiss interpreted;
It was a vision fair and fortunate:
Your statue spouting blood in many pipes,
In which so many smiling Romans bathed,
Signifies that from you great Rome shall suck
Reviving blood, and that great men shall press
For tinctures, stains, relics and cognizance.
This by Calpurnia's dream is signified.

CAESAR

And this way have you well expounded it.

DECIUS BRUTUS

I have, when you have heard what I can say:
And know it now: the senate have concluded
To give this day a crown to mighty Caesar.
If you shall send them word you will not come,
Their minds may change. Besides, it were a mock
Apt to be render'd, for some one to say
'Break up the senate till another time,
When Caesar's wife shall meet with better dreams.'
If Caesar hide himself, shall they not whisper
'Lo, Caesar is afraid'?
Pardon me, Caesar; for my dear dear love
To our proceeding bids me tell you this;
And reason to my love is liable.

CAESAR

How foolish do your fears seem now, Calpurnia!
I am ashamed I did yield to them.
Give me my robe, for I will go.

CONTEXT

This is the Ides of March. Caesar is in his house having a conversation with his wife Calpurnia about her dreams and Caesar not going to the Senate. Finally they come to a decision that Caesar would not go to the Senate. But at that time Decius enters to take Caesar to the Senate house. At that time he gets to know about the dream. But knowing that Caesar would not come to the Senate, Decius reinterprets Calpurnia’s dreams as a fortunate dream. This convinces Caesar to go to the Senate. To help Decius, Brutus, Publius and the other conspirators come except for Cassius. Finally Mark Antony enters to take Caesar to the Senate.

SIGNIFICANCE

The significance of this scene was to show the hubris of Caesar. Caesar says, “The cause is in my will. I will not come. That is enough to satisfy the Senate”. This line shows his arrogance that because he rules Rome, he can do anything and they will have to obey him. The other reason was to characterize Caesar that he believes everything. He was convinced by Decius to go to the Senate because of his flattery which shows that he is an accepting person. Also this passage shows a bit of verbal irony.

Profile I

I learn best through movement and by focusing on the whole picture, context and emotional relevance to self. I need to be encouraged and be given model for how to work with and communicate the details and linear aspects of life and learning. I will benefit from benefit from sitting in the middle front of the room where I can access my dominant ear and eye. Activities that help: cross-lateral hand foot play like knitting, writing and drawing with the non dominant-hand, cross crawls, walking, dancing, soccer and martial art like Tai Chi. An integrative balance of art, music, movement and interpersonal skills combined with cognitive endeavors in linguistics and mathematics will be highly beneficial. The strategies that would help me in my learning are to keep me relaxed which is the time when it is easy for me to communicate the details and sequence of information, both verbally and written. Seeing and hearing the details is often difficult for me under stress. I would like my teachers to know this about me that my biggest challenge may be to access the pieces of information and be able to put them together in a linear logical manner that I can then communicate.

TASK D

Leonardo da Vinci was true Renaissance man. We can tell that because he always used new ideas in his painting like anatomical accuracy. He also showed how actually was a child born and the muscles in a human body. He also made the propotional man in which he drew himself. He was also intrested in drawings, anotomy, portraits, machinery engineering and civil engineering.
In search of new challenges and the big bucks, he entered the service of the Duke of Milan in 1482, abandoning his first commission in Florence, "The Adoration of the Magi". He spent 17 years in Milan, leaving only after Duke Ludovico Sforza's fall from power in 1499. It was during these years that Leonardo hit his stride, reaching new heights of scientific and artistic achievement.
From 1513 to 1516, he worked in Rome, maintaining a workshop and undertaking a variety of projects for the Pope. He continued his studies of human anatomy and physiology, but the Pope forbade him from dissecting cadavers, which truly cramped his style.

Brunelleschi's Dome

Risk taking because, he had taken many risks to make the dome. He took risks like when he left from Florence when people were making the Florence Cathedral. he took many more risks and succeeded. There was also a time when people were afraid that the dome will fall inside so no wanted to build the upper part of the dome. At that time, he took risk and showed everyone nothing will happen and finished the building of the dome of the Florence Cathedral. firstly no one believed him that he can make the dome. but as the building of the dome started, everyone started to believe him and tried to help him. In this way people’s actions decisions effected change.
